At Mayfair Fire and Security, we strongly believe in giving our staff every opportunity to gain skills that enhance the workplace. We recently had our directors and staff members take part in a one-day Emergency First Aid at work course.
All businesses must have First Aiders. We wanted to ensure that as many of our staff as possible were confident and capable of responding immediately to incidents, injuries, and illnesses. First Aid knowledge can save lives and prevent minor injuries from becoming major ones.
What did we cover?
We developed the skills and confidence to help someone who is:
- unresponsive and not breathing, including how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED)
- unresponsive and breathing
- having a seizure
- choking
- bleeding heavily
- suffering from shock
- burnt.
The course also included information on:
- assessing a casualty
- monitoring a casualty
- where to get help
- electrical incidents
- accident recording and reporting
- the control of substances hazardous to health (COSHH).
Emergency first aid at work certificate
Upon successful completion of this course, we will receive an Emergency first aid at work certificate which is valid for three years by the British Red Cross. This course meets the requirements specified by the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
